Do not think the knowledge you presently possess is changeless, absolute truth. Do not force others, including children, by any means whatsoever, to adopt your views. Peace is every step.

Remembering our friend

Barry Wakeman had so many experiences... he tried almost any event or learning experience that came his way, just to engage life as much as possible.

I heard that Mark Twain once said something to the effect that once one becomes a riverboat captain, he can never see the river in the same way again, never see the mystery that it had before becoming a captain of a vessel... But Barry lived the proof that it is, in fact, possible to be an expert and still embody wonder and childlike awe...

Barry was one of the best known naturalists in his field, an expert of international reputation.
He went into the forest and learned all the science, all the technical expertise... and came out the other side with the same excited heart of a little boy, with tears of wonder in his eyes, and a sense of the great possibility that exists for all, in all... And he was able to communicate that wonder and connection to all of us who met and learned from him over the years...

The Virtual Talking Stick

The celebration of Barry's life included a brief talking stick session, for sharing of our stories about Barry: JZ's, trips to Africa, workshops, books, practical jokes, poetry, parables and more...

We could have all gone on for hours and days, and at some point, we had to wrap up for the afternoon. However, the talking stick time goes on, right here. Please feel free to share a memory  right here at the site.

Please also feel free to contribute your photos and other materials you'd like to share with everyone here online.

Contact the Webmaster via our feedback form for more information about sharing photos and other materials.

Our greatest power and most important job, reason for being - contribution - is found in our small acts of loving kindness, consideration, respect and reverence, giving and forgiving, sharing, caring, appreciation, hospitality, compassion, tolerance, acceptance, befriending, praying and devotions that reverberates across the universe changing all.
